Bought or downloaded an embroidery design and not sure how to get it onto your machine? This guide shows you, step by step, how to download, unzip and transfer the right file to your embroidery machine.
1. Download the ZIP file After purchase (or after claiming the weekly free design), the file is available under My account > Downloads. Every Embing design comes in one ZIP with DST, PES, JEF and EXP formats.
2. Unzip it On a computer, right-click the file and choose "Extract all" (Windows) or double-click it (Mac). On a phone, use the Files app. You will see one file per format.
3. Pick your machine's format PES: Brother and Babylock. JEF: Janome and Elna. DST: Tajima and most industrial and multi-needle machines. EXP: Melco and Bernina. Use only your brand's format.
4. Copy it to a USB stick Use a simple USB stick (ideally up to 8 GB, FAT32). Copy the file to the root, not inside folders, since many machines cannot read subfolders. Avoid special characters and long names.
5. Open it on the machine and check the size Plug in the USB stick, select the design and make sure it fits your hoop. Stitch a test on a scrap of the same fabric with the right stabilizer.
Common problems If the machine does not recognize the file, check the format, name and USB formatting. If something is still wrong, email support@embing.com and we will replace it within 24 hours.
